Puzzlethon is a unique fundraiser created especially for the Connecticut autism community

Puzzlethon
  returns on March 1, 2008. For our second annual puzzling event, we are bursting out with TWO locations this year. Intensive Education Academy in West Hartford and High Roads Student Learning Center in Wallingford have each graciously agreed to host our puzzling event. We’ll be puzzling from 12 Noon until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, and there will be puzzles, food and drinks. Red Carpet Event: Join us on Thursday evening, March 13, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. as we host Keri Bowers and her son, Taylor Cross, for a film and discussion event at the Mandell JCC, 335 Bloomfield Ave, West Hartford. Co-sponsored with the Autism Spectrum Services Division of the Department of Developmental Services, Keri and Taylor will be screening clips from their award winning films “Normal People Scare Me” and “The Sandwich Kid” and the opening up the floor for discussion. 2008 Mini-Grant Program now accepting applications. ASCONN is pleased to announce that applications for the 2008 mini-grant program will be accepted from March 3, 2008 through June 6, 2008. More information and a downloadable application

Give a Teacher a Pat on the Back: Families - are you looking for a way to say "thanks" to a teacher, therapist, respite care provider or family member? Check out ASCONN's new "Pat on the Back" program and recognize the people who make such a difference in the lives of persons with autism spectrum disorders.

Orientation Programs: Do you need help training community organizations about autism? Our “Autism Orientation” programs help educate communities about autism and about how to work with our family members. There are programs for parents and professionals, for faith communities, for recreational providers, for community organizations, for social service agencies. New for 2007: an Orientation for Peer Groups. More info

ASCONN is thrilled to announce a new scholarship program just for girls on the spectrum. A family concerned about lack of services for girls on the spectrum has established a fund to support the creation of social skills groups for girls and to provide scholarships for girls to attend these programs.
